Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the current global health crisis. Small businesses worldwide are struggling, with local restaurants one of the hardest hit sectors. As public officials and members of industry encourage gift card purchase as a means of supporting these small businesses, Los Angeles restaurateurs have banded together —in partnership with Los Angeles magazine and Wagstaff Media & Marketing—to extend this kindness via the One More Helping campaign.
The idea is simple: for every gift card purchased, participating restaurants donate $1 to another vulnerable community in need.
A list of participants and their chosen cause is below, along with details on how to purchase.
WHAT IS ONE MORE HELPING?
One More Helping is a grassroots coalition comprised of Los Angeles-based restaurateurs. OMH’s mission is simple: incentivize support of one industry in need, through goodwill toward another. For every gift card purchased, participating restaurants donate $1 to a worthy cause.
HOW DO I PURCHASE GIFT CARDS?
While we are reaching out to e-commerce businesses to lobby their support in creating an easy, online purchasing platform for One More Helping, until someone steps up, we are asking each restaurant how they’d like to facilitate purchase. Some may have a website link where you can buy online, others may ask that you connect via email or by phone.
CAN ANY RESTAURANT JOIN?
Any restaurant in Los Angeles county is welcome to join the effort. Please spread the word! Interested businesses can email email@example.com to get involved.
WHAT CHARITIES/CAUSES/NON-PROFITS RECEIVE THE DONATIONS?
Each restaurant selects their own cause. Some to date include No Kid Hungry, Share Our Strength, Meals on Wheels, and growing. Causes do not need to be food related.
HOW LONG WITH THIS BE AVAILABLE?
This campaign will be active through May 31, 2020.
HOW CAN I SPREAD THE WORD?
Post on social media using #onemorehelping, tell friends and family through word of mouth, or share via your website.
HOW ARE DONATIONS AUDITED?
We trust every restaurant to donate in good faith. We will ask participating restaurants—at the end of the 60 days—to share with us the total amount purchased/donations made.
